Shihong Nicolaou

Shihong is an intellectual property advisor with NPS consulting, Torrey Pines Law Group, and LARTA Institute.

For two decades, Shihong managed a large and diverse invention portfolio at the Office of Innovation and Commercialization (OIC) at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where she led the successful commercialization of the university’s innovations.  She collaborated with researchers, investors, and corporate partners to translate cutting-edge research into commercially viable products, effectively integrating scientific, legal, and business perspectives. Her work focused on developing comprehensive IP strategies that protect core assets, strengthen market positioning, and facilitate licensing and partnership opportunities.

Prior to her role at the university, she had extensive work experience in biotech and pharmaceutical industry (Agouron, Warner-Lambert, and Pfizer).  She built strong expertise in drug research and development through her work in oncology and antiviral programs.

Shihong holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Kansas.
